Description
The image shows a U.S. two-dollar bill in a commemorative folder. The bill is an authentic, uncirculated two-dollar note, and the folder states that the denomination was "first issued by the Continental Congress June 25th, 1776.". The two-dollar bill is a current denomination of U.S. currency, but it is rarely seen in circulation. The obverse side of the bill features a portrait of Thomas Jefferson, and the reverse side depicts the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The U.S. government redesigns Federal Reserve notes primarily for security reasons, but because the two-dollar bill is infrequently counterfeited, there are no plans to redesign it. Despite their perceived rarity, two-dollar bills are not rare and are still being printed.
