The game after 9/11 Yeah, that was a tough time for everyone. The day after 9/11 was really emotional, and sports were a way for people to come together and find a bit of normalcy. The Cubs played a role in that healing process by bringing fans together at Wrigley Field. on September 12, 2001, the Cubs did have a special tribute. They honored the victims of 9/11 with moments of silence, and there were a lot of patriotic elements throughout the game. It was a way to bring the community together and remember those who were lost. It really showed the power of sports in tough times.
