The Nikon 2020, also known as the F-501, was released in 1986 as one of Nikon’s first autofocus 35mm SLR cameras. It featured an automatic focusing system, built-in motorized film advance, and three exposure modes: Programmed Auto, Aperture Priority, and Manual. This made it a versatile camera for both beginners and experienced photographers. The camera was compatible with Nikon’s new autofocus lenses while still allowing the use of older manual focus lenses. It also offered center-weighted metering for accurate exposure and a hot shoe for external flashes.
