Description

A unit I’ve had for close to 15 years. I had it serviced probably 13 years ago, and I did use it some, but it has since fallen back into disrepair (you can see the main drive belt in the last pic starting to turn into goo). I just was able to get it to RW and FF fine but then my tape got stuck and I had to remove the lid and manually turn the gears to get the head to lower down. At this point after I poked around that drive belt, the head is stuck up so it no longer ejects, which honestly is just as well unless you want to get your tape stuck in there. I had a quote completed some months ago at Deltronics for the maintenance service (new belts/rubber and lubrication), but I couldn’t justify the cost with other functioning recorders around. I might be able to get Mike to honor the quote and save you the initial diagnostic charge if you want to use their services (it’s the shop in Woodridge). You could also attempt the repair yourself. I see the whole rubber kit (5 parts) for this deck is around $60 shipped, and there are numerous videos on YouTube that show you how to get at belts and disassemble/ reassemble the tape mech, which likely is all you’ll need to service. If you know this deck then I’m guessing you know its appeal. Runs high speed with built in DBX NR for improved fidelity. Fairly unique for a 4-track that you can do the mixing on a high quality board or just send the channels individually into an interface and edit and mix in your DAW. I’ve done both. Please check out the pics and let me know if I can answer any questions for you. I’ll throw in a new sealed Type II cassette or 2 with purchase.
