The ESS Nine speakers are extremely rare. At $1300 a pair, these were once priced higher than equivalent JBL and Pioneer bookshelf speakers.. They have Peerless tweeters and mids that are very smooth and not overly bright. And the 12" Alnico woofers deliver incredibly deep bass. They are solid and heavy (63 lbs each) with 1 inch thick wood veneered sides. Few have heard of these speakers but those that own them rate them above similarly sized JBL and Pioneer speakers. No grilles. 27"H x 16"W x 12.25"D.
