Type in MEP-802a vs. consumer generator This is a 2013 Military"Tactical Quiet" Enclosed Diesel Generator/Trailer set, that has about 124 hours on the original engine and generator coils. It produces 5KW of power in single or three phases using a simple selection switch with three positions: 120v Single-Phase; 240v Single-Phase; 240 Three Phase. This is NOT a rebuild - it is the original Onan engine. It has both the fuse and MOV mod for those who know what those are. These are not your typical generators. This will run your entire house, with A/C several refrigerators, all lights, etc. Even your clothes dryer. For anyone trying to prepare there families for what's coming, this is a NECESSITY! DONT WAIT UNTIL YOU NEED IT BECAUASE BY THEN, ITS ALREADY TOO DARN LATE! It starts up clean and fast, and other than fresh oil and filter change, fuel, coolant, and batteries, I haven't had to add anything to it. The generator is fully functional - it pumps out full voltage. I tested every lug and both utility outlets. This generator will output single-phase 120v@52A or 240v@26A. That's plenty for your average house with an A/C or most of any construction site (see below). The three phases are perfect for an industrial shop, farm, restaurant, gas station, convenience store, etc. There are two 120v/15a plugs on the unit for "accessories" like lights, but primary power is fed out using three power lugs, plus a neutral and ground, depending on what power mode you select. These take wires direct on heavy-duty screw-down terminals. One of the great things about these units is that they were designed to handle electronics. That means harmonic distortion (Pure Sine Wave) is far lower than most commercial units. The chassis has an internal 5 gallon tank and a secondary fuel pump that can (neat feature) fill itself from canisters, trucks, or whatever. Just attach a fuel line (which is stored behind one of the door panels) to the NPT auxiliary connector, put the line into a tank, and set the switch to Aux Fuel. It'll suck the fuel into the chassis using a separate fuel pump and stop when the tank is full. It'll auto-restart when the fuel drops. The Aux. fuel can be on the ground next to it - no siphon required. The enclosure is nearly all aluminum, heavy duty, and has pallet gaps built in, as well as lift/hoist points. It comes in a dessert tan color - Your wife will love it on the side of your house; but just in case - it will take paint easy for color matching. With all of the crazy world events, Govt. This thing seems to have seen very little more than fluid changes, washes and occasional maintenance run-ups. The engine is nearly spotless, and there are almost no dings or scratches. Powered it up to about 5KW and it didn't flinch. These military units are very underrated in power, this unit is more like 7500 KW easy. They are nothing like your Lowe's or Home-Depot GENERAC Generators, these are MILITARY EMP PROOF Diesel Work-Horses which are built and designed to last a very long time! Upwards of 10k hours+ Oil filters, fuel filters, pumps, etc. are all common parts and available in your auto parts store; the Army maintenance depot used off the shelf filters (WIX, etc.). These generators were designed to be fixed in the field conditions by the average Joe, so you don't have to be very skilled to use or to do regular maintenance like oil changes etc. The military model number is MEP-802a and parts are pretty common.
