Description
Merton Gershun for American of Martinsville is a prominent U.S. mid-century furniture maker known for high-quality classic walnut pieces. This brand competes with Drexel & Henredon if you are looking for that extra gravitas. This Mid-century modern lowboy dresser from the 1960s with signature brass X-shaped inlays on the drawer fronts is a hallmark of the Accord collection. The offset brass pulls/knobs, tapered metal legs, and solid walnut construction come together artistically for a balanced elegant look. The dimensions are 60¼" wide × 31½" high × 18" deep—making it a substantial, statement-making bedroom piece. I included some before and after photos at the end of the gallery. It took me a while to restore this project back to life between the sourcing, driving, cleaning, sanding, and multiple coats applied. I did 3 rounds of brasso to give new life to the original patina in the hardware x inlays and kept it original to bring out the uniqueness of it and to appeal to a collector since it’s a collectors item. Can be made to look brand new with Rub n Buff’ but I opted out to keep it origional. Coated with Minwax dark walnut stain. Some minor imperfections but adds vintage charm. Pickup is in mint hill nc 28227. Delivery is available. Cash is preferred.
