Please note this item listed on multiple platforms and I reserve the right to cancel the listing if necessary. The following listing is for a Sears, Roebuck & Co. Silvertone Model 1017 released in 1951–1954. The original tubes and electronic components were left untampered. The radio plays and can be tuned to a local AM station providing it is within its capable reach. I focused on getting the radio back to playing with as much of its original parts and added a Bluetooth module that is chargeable allowing placement in areas without unsightly cables. Great effort was taken to make the Bluetooth system simple to use and appear factory original. Wooden Case: All original veneer stripped down, restained, and polished to a matte shine. The inside is completely dust free with a light stain to look just as beautiful. The inside top of the radio has the original schematic diagram intact. On the bottom, there is a label I have preserved to avoid breaking apart any further. Band Dial: Cleaned, sanded, and repainted with an era-correct gold tone. All the black numbers were repainted as well for a clean sharp finish. Fascia: The main support was modified and outfitted with stereo speakers, all wrapped in new grill cloth. Dial Indicator: Plastic acrylic was polished and a new bulb was installed to illuminate as in its early years. This is ONLY operational when the radio is used in its original state as an AM Tube Radio and not when in Bluetooth mode. Tuning control: The tuning knob was outfitted with a new tuning string which attaches to the dial indication and the tuning capacitor for proper operation. The knob turns very smoothly as the indicator pivots left to right. Knobs: The knobs are completely original and were cleaned to expose the words and the remaining portion is purposely left to look era correct. Center Logo: The Silvertone logo had seen better days and it was important for me to get this looking just right. Slight fixes were done and refinished to provide a clean and beautiful finish. ***Delicate plastic that should be handled with great care when cleaning*** Back Panel: The back panel was in rough shape, so I decided to make a new panel out of the same material that also supports all the main Bluetooth components. Power switch and charger port with USB type B. This is the same as used on printers, which is a much more robust design than the small USB mini ports that are hard to see. On the inside of the panel, the wiring, battery, and Bluetooth module are mounted. A schematic of the USB module connections has been provided in the event of any future service is needed. I wanted to keep up with the theme of vintage equipment and how well they were designed. The Bluetooth module and speakers are well-matched for efficiency and hours of enjoyment. It can play by battery power or the wall charger and cable which is provided with the purchase although not shown. Instructions will also be included on how to charge and operate the Bluetooth.
