EXCOMMUNICATIONS OF ROBERT THE PIOUS ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE JEAN PAUL LAURENS 1800S THE ORIGINAL PAINTING EXCOMMUNICATION OF ROBERT THE PIOUS BY JEAN-PAUL LAURENS WAS PAINTED BETWEEN 1875 AND 1880 AND WAS EXHIBITED AT THE PARIS SALON. SHORTLY AFTER THE PHOTOGRAVURE WAS PRODUCED. THIS ORIGINAL 19TH CENTURY PHOTO REPRODUCES LAURENS’ DRAMATIC HISOTRICAL SCENE, SHOWING ROBERT THE PIOUS FACING EXCOMMUNICATION WITH VIVID EXPRESSIONS, DETAILED COSTUMES, AND TENSE ECCLESIASTICAL SETTING. THE DIMENSIONS ARE 11 1/2” X 17 1/8”. I FOUND THIS ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE IN AN OLD ATTIC IN THE LATE 1970S. THIS HOME WAS BUILT IN THE 1700S IN CONNECTICUT. THIS WAS IN A SECTION OF THE ATTIC THAT HADN'T BEEN EXPLORED IN YEARS. VERY GOOD FOR ITS AGE. THERE ARE IMPERFECTIONS LIKE SPOTTING, CREASES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BORDER, AND A PIECE RIPPED FROM THE TOP RIGHT CORNER. (WHEN FRAMED, THIS WOULD BE HIDDEN UNDER THE FRAME) THE ACTUAL PHOTOGRAVURE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS WOULD LOOK ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WHEN FRAMED. 26
