Soundcraftsmen MA5002, Stereo Power Amplifier Class H

Basic Info 2 x 1/4" inputs (Channel A & B), 2 banana plug outputs per channel (total of 4 outputs). On the front: 2 VU meters per channel (THEY WORK! and are backlit), 3 VU selection switches (x1, x10, x100), speakers on/off buttons for channels 1 & 2, and 2 jumbo metal volume knobs for channel 1 & 2. A class H amplifier with 250 watts @ 8 ohms per channel/ 360 watts @ 4 ohms per channel. Can also handle 2 ohm loads but I do not know if it's bridgeable (I've plugged two 4 ohm speakers into these without a hitch man times). These are conservative ratings as these amplifiers are known to go over their stock ratings. 250 watts per channel in this power amp could easily be compared to today's amps that claim they give 750-1500 watts of power (depending on brand, of course). These are efficient watts, if you will. You have to remember, Soundcraftsmen units were all hand built exclusively in their warehouse. Dozens of patents as well as Class H power were literally invented under their Santa Ana roof! This is without a doubt, in my opinion, the BEST sounding solid state power amplifier I've played through or used. I've owned BGW, Crest, Crown, Hafler and QSC amps - no competition. None. This amp provides tone that is pristine, warm and punchy, a quality mid range warmth with a slight bump, tight yet smooth bass and transparent trebles that are glassy and not tinny. I've also used this amplifier to power mains and monitors - what a treat! The best monitor sound to this date (except for the House of Blues in Hollywood). Of course this can also be used to powevr reference monitors in a studio (no fan, Class H) or for you home stereo system.
