Description

Technics had been building incredible turntables for 20 yrs and then the Vinyl Industry officially died: These turntables were their last in the consumer electronics line from 1996. The SLDQ 33 is an Automatic Quartz Lock Direct Drive: Place the record on it’s spindle, close the cover and touch the play button. The album plays through and the arm returns and the unit shuts off. Many Audiophiles shun Automatic turntables because of 2 primary reasons: (1) They use the Drive Motor along with a mechanical mechanism to move the tone arm, causing addition wear on the motor...(2) The tone arm itself is always dragging along linkage to the mechanical mechanism, which has an effect of adding distortion: The long and short of all this IS: The motor and tone arm of Automatic turntables are slave to other functions other than playing music, aren’t as pure, quiet and as good sounding compared to Manual Turntables. But this Technics DEALS with all that. There is a 2nd motor just to handle all tone arm functions! It controls cue, (needle up/down), start and start. The tone arm itself has a tiny sensor to let it know when to pick up and shut down. The P-Mount tone arm is very low-mass and is perfect with the Included high compliance Audio Technica 3003 cartridge: It’s a .3x.7 mil elliptical, in very good sounding condition What’s exciting here is down the road, when you need to replace it, you can can put a really good $100 Cart on and you’ll have a turntable that sounds like today’s models selling between an easy $300-$400. The only thing Not in perfect condition is the dustcover; which has scratching and scuffs and a small chip, as pictured. Otherwise the rest has been thoroughly Cleaned and Refurbed, in and out, to NR Mint Condition. With its build on Strobe Light you can see it spins dead-on 33.3. Unit includes all Cables!
