Description
Up for sale is a Prussian Civil Service sword. These swords were typically worn for special occasions, or positions that were formal in nature, such as court guards. These were often carried by public safety personnel, teachers/professors, justices, and doctors during formal events. Where or this particular sword belonged to is unknown, with the only stamps or marks to exist being the number “2” on each individual part. The sword shows some typical wear for an item that is likely over 150 years old, but in great shape otherwise. Even shows signs of blade-to-blade contact (dueling was popular amongst the higher Prussian classes & nobility). Though no obvious maker’s mark is present, I believe it is in line with WKC’s offerings from Solingen. The sheath has clearly seen better days, and is stamped with the number “5,” indicating an obvious replacement rather than being the sword’s original sheath. Open to offers. Just trying to thin the collection to fund our family’s next adoption.
