GLASS-FIBER & MICA REINFORCED IMPP™ Polypropylene (PP) is a tough thermoplastic resin that is an ideal material for a speaker cone due to its low mass and high damping properties. PP cones offer good sensitivity and low distortion. However, basic raw polypropylene cones lack the rigidity and strength required for high output and extreme low bass. To resolve this, Pioneer engineers, using advanced Computer-Aided Manufacturing, developed a process to blend glass fibers and mica into the polypropylene resin during the injection molding process. The resulting reinforced IMPP™ cone is thinner and low mass with high rigidity and superior strength, producing natural, detailed sound with deep and powerful bass. DEEP BASS To achieve deep and tight bass, a rigid and lightweight cone is essential. However, without a proper motor structure, it’s useless if you’re looking for a good bass punch. This subwoofer uses a strontium magnet paired with a large copper voice coil and an aluminum voice-coil former for better bass control under high excursions.
