Who could resist this antique portrait of a beautiful little boy. It was made by Chicago Portrait Co. 1920’s. It’s a salesman prop used to sell frames. The photo was the con. The salesman on the street would approach parents pushing baby carriages. Offering them a great deal. A gorgeous picture of their baby for 5 cents. Unexpected parents would pay the 5 cents to the salesman assuming that what they saw is what they would receive. When the salesman delivered the picture . He showed it in the frame. The parents where thrilled with the outcome. To their surprise the salesman removed the photo. Handing only the photo to the unexpected parents. In shock, they would ask what about the frame ? The salesman would then turn it over and show them the price of $7.99. The Frame was not included in the sale. The mother began to cry. What was the husband to do. He paid the hefty price for the frame. All is well the wife was happy, husband annoyed and the Salesman made a hefty profity! This Scam is still Happening Today. 19”x 13”x1.25”.
