Description
These are excellent condition. Monogram fully intact. My Granddad personally brought these back to the states. I know the full story on when, where and "How" he acquired these. These were obtained from 4 SS Soldiers sitting in a cottage drinking after realization that the war was over and they had met there point of surrender. My Granddad was part of a convoy that fired 50cal rounds over the homestead to warn any possible threats inside of the fact that they were there, and meant business. When warning shots ceased a white flag was waved directly from the front door. American soldiers, one of them being my Granddad, immediately entered the home to to the sight of the 4 SS Soldiers placing these exact glasses on the table in front of them raising their hands to surrender. Can include written backstory with purchase. Can't budge much on asking, to rare, priceless to some and just absolutely incredible to have these due to their fragility. And given the immaculate condition, know there value. Above all, I would not sell my Grandad short. I've read extensively on the first Wave, D-Day and the Battle at the Bulge so I could attempt grasping what it is he went through not only to acquire these and bring them back, but simply "Live" to do so. Would be an excellent addition to ANY collector specializing in the WWII era. We've got 4 glasses, 2 shadowboxes with 2 glasses in each one. Our asking is $2,000 for all $500 each. Happy Holidays to all!!!
