Description
I love this old metal boxes but this one takes the cake. I thought it would be a great planter or storage box, but also found out it has a great history. It is stamped USQMC (United States Quarter Master Corps) Jefferson, Indiana 50. It is a WWII field food box that would have held hardtack, bread, etc. for the troops in the field. It has two handles on the side and has no holes or corrosion. Some light rust on bottom of inside. It originally had a cover which I do not have it, unfortunately...It measures approximately 17” x 15" x 9". Pictures do not do this justice... Price is $55 which is a very fair price for a bit of Military History... PM me for a faster response. No holds, deliveries, or shipping available at this time...
