Description
Vintage Tru-Point lead pencil pointer/sharpener made by Edward Manufacturing Co. in Coloma, Michigan. Dates to early 1950s. Produces a long, slender, true needle point for fine line work of all kinds. It was the Tru-Point lead pointer that revolutionized the way pencils were sharpened, it being faster than using sandpaper, far cleaner, and could be operated with one hand. For mechanical or wood pencils used by draftsmen, accountants, engineers, artists or anyone else doing pencil work and requiring a very sharp point. Does not cut the wood from wood pencils, but does put a sharp point on the lead after the wood has been cut back with a knife. Comes complete with original box, instructions for operating and cleaning, and a separate instruction sheet for adjusting the variable point taper when sharpening. Heavy iron metal sharpener appears to be complete and in excellent condition, but is untested. Disassembles easily for cleaning. Box has some wear from age and handling, but is still complete and displays well. Information sheets are completely intact, but do have some residue from previous use as shown. Sharpener measures about 3.25” diameter and the box about 3.5”. See pics for more details.
