Description
Meet Tofu, your next great adventure partner! I had about $1500 in work done on the van this week and vastly improved its performance and handling including 4new shocks, new brake calipers and pads and brake fluid flush, and new transmission filter and flush. Just put 3k mi on it (one last adventure!) to make sure everything is good to go. Drove like a dream! Tofu is a custom built camper van based on a 1995 Ford Econoline E350 extended with a 460 7.5L engine. It's got 293xxx miles on it with the original engine and transmission. Acceleration, shifting, and braking are all strong. Drives straight. Cruise works great. Heat works great. AC needs recharged. In 2018 I converted Tofu from a passenger van for full time camping and living on the road including adding a 24" fiberglass high top. It's 6'2" on the inside! RV Conversion includes: - 800w of solar panels - charge controller - 2kw inverter - 160ahr deep cycle battery - 30gal fresh water - 7 gal grey water -3.2cuft fridge with freezer - Led lighting - Swivel front seats! -custom walnut paneling and flooring - 25sqft countertop - true full size mattress (54x75) - bed platform tall enough for storing bikes underneath, but also tall enough to sit up comfortably - tons of in cabin storage and under bed storage accessible from inside and rear doors - hanging clothes storage - head of bed lifts like a chaise lounge -5'x6' roof deck with fixed ladder -rear AC and heat! (Currently disconnected) - 2in receiver for hitch or bike rack - wired for trailer brakes! Mechanical pros: - 4 new shocks - 4 decent tires and a spare <20kmi (HT 245 75/R16 E) - brand new pads and calipers - brand new brake master cylinder - full brake flush - new transmission filter and fluid - includes some spare parts Mechanical cons: - high mileage, and it needs some work, but it's still got a lot of life left - It will NOT pass emissions in Denver because it's missing the catalytic converter (stolen last year), but muffler is intact & repaired with exhaust pipe - power mirrors and radio are out. Could be fixed though, if you can figure out which fuse is blown. - AC leak (25yo van) - slow leak in tire - time for an oil change. Will be taking care of in next few days I bought this van because it was easy and inexpensive to maintain. I have had relatively few issues with it. I habe no doubt that it would last another 100k mi+! This would make a great van to work on over the next few months for next summer or to escape the winter cold in Baja. I've got a lot of memories in this van and only selling because I don't have time for it anymore. We just took one last trip in it to make sure all the mechanicals are good to go and I am happy to report we had no issues! I am also including everything you need to hit the road: - folding table - folding chairs - extra water jugs - rooftop hammock hanger! - kitchen essentials: forks spoons knives spatulas, plates cups bowls - freshly washed sheets and duvet - baskets for food storage - travel toilet!
