Description

Authentic World Airways carry-on travel bag from the 1960s — a unique piece of airline and California history. • Exterior in good vintage condition — clean with clear World Airways logo. • Zipper and handle work smoothly; toggle in great shape. • Inside has a couple spots where the lining is coming loose at the corners. • Includes a HemisFair 1968 stamp found inside. • Still attached: the original owner’s Dymo label stickers — belonging to David Brodie, an architecture professor at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, who also used this while at the UC Berkeley Department of Architecture (see below). Dimensions: approximately 12”X16”X3” This is a great find for anyone who loves airline memorabilia, mid-century travel collectibles, or unique vintage luggage. Would also look amazing as a display or retro decor piece. $125 OBO (or best offer) ⸻ Here is a bit more about Professor Brodie: David Derek Arthur Lind Brodie, former emeritus professor, peacefully passed on November 30, 2023 in San Luis Obispo after a long illness. Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, David was a globetrotter exposed to a cross disciplinary education. With a Bachelors of Architecture from Cape Town University, he would later spend time in London; studying furniture design, practicing architecture with his brother-in-law Manfred Berlowitz, working in landscape architecture, interior design, and creating theater set designs. Though after some time, David would go on to the University of California, Berkeley, to obtain his Masters of Architecture and becoming an Assistant Professor for seven years before joining the Cal Poly community.  Keywords: vintage airline bag, World Airways, 1960s luggage, retro carry-on, HemisFair 1968, collectible travel bag, UC Berkeley, Cal Poly, airline memorabilia
