Description
Gainsborough Crown Royal England 1950’s British Rose Cup Saucer Pristine vintage condition - no signs of use, defects or damages. Pictures are part of the description, please check them & let me know if you require additional ones. “Married” set - same pattern from different companies. Saucer is from Gainsborough, cup from Crown Royal. A little history Gainsborough & Crown Royal were ones of small mid-priced England china makers who never reached the heady heights of collectablilty like say, Royal Albert or Aynsley. They were listed in 1955 as ones of the 9 makers amalgamated into the giant Pearsons group under the name of 'The Ridgway Potteries Group'. So they were smaller Longton firms making bone china (and there many of those closely packed together in a couple of streets) which were swallowed up in the 1950's when the going was getting tough and Pearsons were making acquisitions into their giant Ridgways group - meant to take on the other giants like the Wedgwood group and Worcester/Spode. During & right after the acquisition they were sharing not only manufacturing techniques, but also patterns which is why many “married” sets came on the market at that time Dimensions: - Cup 3.5 x 3 in - Saucer 5.5 in Weight: 8 oz Love more than one item from my store?
