Large vintage hand carved Italian alabaster ashtray, catch-all or decor piece by JIM of Tirrenia, Italy, with original labels. Approximately 8” wide, 2.25” thick, and over 6.5 pounds. This substantial, eye-catching reddish orange piece would make a striking addition to midcentury modern, contemporary, minimalist, maximalist, vintage, eclectic, and other decors. This ashtray was made in Tirrenia, Italy, a small seaside frazione (parish) of Pisa situated on the coast of Tuscany and founded during the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini (who called it “The Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea”).
