Description

Vintage Delft Blue ceramic tile featuring the beautiful village of Marken, located in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. Marken occupies a peninsula in the Markermeer and, until 1957, was an island in the former Zuiderzee. Today it is connected to the mainland of North Holland by a causeway, and the old style traditional wooden houses of Marken featured in this tile are a major tourist attraction. There’s a hook on back for easy wall hanging, and the tile could also be used as a decorative countertop trivet. Very good overall condition with only minor wear from use. Small corner chip on back side only as shown in the pics. A few very tiny barely noticeable chips along front bottom edge. Tile displays beautifully and would be a welcome addition to a Delft Blue collection!! Measures about 6” x 6” square and is about 3/16” thick. See pics for more details and zoom in for closeups.
