Description
Healthy green plants. White Paint Brush or Elephant's Tongue (Haemanthus albiflos): An exotic bulb succulent that's easy to grow. This unique plant grows with its bulb partially exposed. Each year it produces a pair of flexible, tongue-shaped leaves that can reach 6.0" long. This species is particularly loved for its flower, a paintbrush-like umbel of tiny white and orange flowers on a tall stalk. This slow grower loves to be pot-bound and grows best shaded, outdoors, in frost-free climates. This plant is fully rooted in a 3.5" pot. Please Note: Like other members of the Amaryllis family, H. albiflos is toxic if ingested. Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need ample sunlight, great drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again. Has broad leaves. Potted in black nursery pots. Good for indoor or outdoor.
