Description
Dear Margie, I received both of your letters Sunday. There is a new law allowing us to get Mail on Wednesday and Saturday. This is on account of maneuvers. Thanks for the two dollars my mother forwarded to me in your letter. Also you really think Francis will be drafted? If so he probably will be commissioned. Powers is still with us but pretty fed up on this outfit. He is going to try to go to officer's school is he can It seems page 2 to get warmer and drier every day. We haven't done much of anything since we came here. There is a rumor we might build a canal when we get to Florida. I hope by that time by luck to be out of this branch. The only thing that worries me is teeth. There isnt anymore news at all so I hope everyone is well and will close, Love, Joey P.S. Thank Francis for the reference he got me. Camp Sutton was a training facility for the US Army and trained 13,000 engineers in ww2. Named after the R.C.A.F. pilot Frank Sutton who was shot down and killed in N. Africa. He was from Monre, NC.
