Luckily, the violin has no soundpost or bass bar crack. There is no damage, cracks or other issues . The finish does have very minimum checking, dings, scratches, wear and marks here and there as pictured, but it is in an excellent condition for a 200+/- year old instrument. The tuners operate perfectly without issue. The neck and head stock are in beautiful condition and feel/play amazing! The Hard Case & Bow are also in very good shape. They will show their age, but all latches and hinges operate. There will be flaws as pictured from use and age. The bow has a little hair missing, but is solid, crack free and adjusts as it should. Some As Read On The Included 1997 Appraisal: Identification: It is a hand made violin in an excellent state of preservation for its age. The color is brown and appears to have been revarnished at some point. The label reads "Nicolaus Amatus Fecit In Cremona 1674". I do not believe it to be a genuine Amati label, since it does not match original copies on file. It is fitted out with ebony parts except the chin rest which is a combination chin and shoulder rest made of bakelite which was common in the mid 1800s. Construction: The back plate is of one piece flamed maple as are the ribs and shows evidence of a well repaired crack on the right side of the upper and middle bouts. The numerous surface knicks indicate much usage over a long time period. Tonality: The voice of this instrument is beautifully even toned in both low and high registers with full timbre and excellent response. Its clarity and definition leaves little to be desired.
