Atari 130XE Personal Computer

This is a vintage 1985 Atari 130XE Personal Computer System. The computer itself is in pretty good shape for its age, however the ram chips are bad; but don’t worry you can buy compatible ram chips online! You can use the piggyback method to bring life back into this wonderful old machine. Watch videos online to learn how to solder new ram chips on top of your old bad ones or learn how to completely remove the old ones and replace them like factory new! A fun project for someone with skill in electronics or computer repair! The system powers on but the system self-check starts and doesn’t pass this screen due to bad ram. This model looks to have never been taken apart and I myself didn’t want to break the label on this as I myself do not understand how to approach this machine. Look at the last picture... The green squares indicate “good ram” the red squares indicate “bad ram” the white square is showing the system attempting to run that same sector of ram again to determine if the ram is good or bad. The rom shown in “green” indicates good rom. The system cannot run software if the ram chips are bad. “I tried, it didn’t work.” So, since the ram is bad and can’t go past the self-test screen there is no way to test the keyboard, ports, cartridge slot, or additional buttons. The machine is as is. The controller was tested on a working Atari 800XL computer and does work. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Thank you!
