Description
SIMILAR TO THE LANSHIRE VOMIT CLOCK SOLD 10/23----UNIQUE 2 OWL DESIGN, NO OTHER LIKE IT SIGNED ON BOTTOM BY ARTIST?---MADE FOR DESK OR SHELF BUT AGAINST THE WALL 20 INCHES WIDE + 13 INCHES TALL---13 POUNDS OUTSTANDING--- Lanshire clocks made dozens if not hundreds of chalkware and resin design clocks in the mid 1900s until the late 1980s from what I can find. Best known for the resin "vomit clocks" which I have had a few of. Named for the see-through green resin (they were made in many colors but green was THE vomit clock) filled with pebbles or sometimes screws or other items. Chalkware was VERY popular for economical design pieces in the 20th century. Its like a plaster, but it will crack or break if dropped and the chalky white material gives it its name. This one, like the vomit clocks, has a flat rear made to go against a wall. Some wall mount them or put them on a very small shelf with the rear against the wall. Made in the USA so you know its from the 1980s or before as nothing is made here anymore. This design is the ONLY one I can find. There are 8 or 9 different owl designs but none like this that I have found. Has eerie red eyes that catch light and this one is THE ONLY ONE I HAVE SEEN THAT IS SIGNED on the bottom. Maybe that is why it is the only one like it as this has LYNNE ART (I am pretty sure at least) etched into the bottom before painting. These are very heavy and all styles have the same exact clock in them. The same face on all of them too. Its a self-starting electric clock so you just plug it in and set the time. has a sweeping second hand.
