A large, heavy metal enamel sculpture. Dimensions: 25" long x 10" deep x 24" tall (inches) Saulo Moreno Hernández ( April 28, 1933 – July 24, 2018) Saulo Moreno Hernandez is a 71 year old sagacious, self-effacing artist from Tlapujahua, in the state of Michoacan. One of his works is featured in the Americas Gallery of the British Museum in London. One of his early ‘calaveritas’, which are imaginative statues of skeletons depicted as alive and in various poses and garb, was bought by Diego Rivera years ago and is now in the Diego Rivera museum in Mexico City. Saulo’s pieces have been included in many exhibitions throughout the world… the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Japan and Mexico. The creativity of Saulo was recognized early on by Ruth D. Lechuga and María Teresa Pomar. His work was prominently displayed at the Museo Nacional de Artes e Industrias Populares. María Teresa Pomar included several of his works in the 1987 exhibit: EL DIA DE LOS MUERTS: The Life of the Dead in Mexican Folk Art, at the Fort Worth Art Museum, . Chloë Sayer, a true friend, fan and promoter, has been responsible for his work being shown in numerous exhibits in Canada and Great Britain. Moreno was the founder of a long copied technique he called The Alambriode. created and named by Saulo Moreno could be translated as wire structured paper mache sculptures
