2018 Mazda CX-9 FWD 2.5L Turbo VIN Y, 8th digit Used engine fully operational and running upon removal. It has 110,000 miles on the engine Asking $400 or best offer Mazda dealership perform diagnostic found it has multiple misfire counts on all 4 cylinders. Visual inspection found low coolant level and a leak at the back of the cylinder head. Pressure tested cooling system and also found small amounts of coolant leaking into the cylinders causing the misfires. Mazda dealer recommend replacing the engine assembly. This is a known issue for 2016-2020 Mazda CX-9 SKYACTIV-G 2.5T (produced before Jun. 9, 2020). Engineering flaw in engine due to weight of turbocharger that causes warping and stress fractures in the cylinder head resulting in major coolant leak. TSB-01-013-21 The cylinder head may be cracked, which cause coolant leaks into the cylinders, but the short block may still be okay. The owner drove the vehicle to the shop, and the engine was running before it was replaced with a new Mazda engine.
