Description
Estimated Mid 19th-century tall caned back within foliate- incised uprights and a crest carved with a shield and coronet with lion supporters, the caned seat on lion- headed leaf-carved scrolling front legs and a shell and scroll-carved stretcher, (slightly distressed). This well-carved chair is inspired by English designs of about 1700. The heraldic crest hasn’t been traced. The nine pearls at the top don’t represent a particular aristocrat; four would be for a Baron or Baroness, sixteen for a Viscount or Viscountess for example. Very decorative.
