Description
Very nice piece - used market value and especially asking prices are rising on this model pretty intensely as of late. Kawai made the occasional pro level piece of gear back in the day and this drum machine was one of them. The major highlight is that it was used for drum sounds on Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album. It was one of the first production drum machines to ship with velocity sensitive pads, has 24 sounds/voices total selectable in 8 banks of 3. The sounds are 12 bit/32kHz PCM samples and each sound’s pitch can be tuned individually up or down, and there are 8 individual outs giving the unit a lot of flexibility for studio use. Full MIDI implementation including 5-pin in/out/thru jacks. Tape sync, step or live recording, and 16x2 LCD display round out The feature set. The unit is in great physical shape for being 34 years old - powers on and functions without problems. The LCD display doesn’t have any issues or missing characters or blank/dark spots.
