Description
Rare, original acrylic painting by well known Sci-Fi artist and writer, Morris Scott Dollens (1920-1994.) This is one of Mr. Dollens Rare Large size paintings measuring 16 x20 and in Great, framed condition. Most of Dollens paintings are only 8 x 10, so to find one twice as big and in great condition is Rare, and unheard of at this price. See Ebay, you won’t even find Any Large original paintings for sale anymore. After researching Mr. Dollens art of this larger size that has sold in the last several years at various auction houses, they have definitely been $550-$750, as of posting date with prices continuing to increase. This painting is on Masonite board and has a thick, raised texture of paint strokes that makes this piece pop with the multi-dimensions 3-D effect on a flat dark void of outer space and blue Aurora background. Even more striking in person and again, in great condition. Original painting, signed, titled. Look on the back and find the artists signature along with the paintings title and #, all written in Dollens handwriting! He also attached an address label which dates this piece to 1974-75. (See pic) This was all a pleasant surprise when I recently removed the slightly damaged paper from the back of the framed piece to ensure that there was no damage to the piece itself. There is no damage-and I will be leaving it in the existing, likely the original frame. For shipping, for the price, I will ensure to use materials to safeguard this art and transport it securely, likely paying for special packing and some extra postage/insurance to ensure safe arrival. I encourage you to look at Wikipedia regarding this artist for details on his long and varied Sci Fi career which began in the 30’s when he was only a teenager. He began painting in the 30’s. Later, he did some Artwork for Star Trek projects! **I prefer to use PayPal for payment, invoicing for goods, so we are both protected. *Please look at my other items offered for even more treasures, Mid Century, retro, antiques...
