Description
Circa 1933, this RCA R-73 is one of the scarcer models. We bought it from a vintage radio dealer who had it restored by his trusted, long-time technician. Impressive and large (20"H x 14-1/2"W x 11"D) with a highly decorative grille, the radio resembles a classic Gothic church. Condition is outstanding. Note the well-chosen wood and he finely crafted factory floral inset knobs. Internally, it is also a well-designed piece of electronics with particularly good reception for a radio of the early 1930s. RCA, owning all the Armstrong patents, offered the finest technology of this era. The radio features a big 10-inch speaker powered by a push-pull eight-tube super-het chassis. The sound is rich and resonant. (The radio can even be seen in a terrifying and iconic scene in the 1933 film classic King Kong). The radio has an accurate silk/cotton power cord and Bakelite plug for your safe operation. We might suggest replacing the plug
