This bed was purchased at an antique store in the late 1950s by my grandmother, I believe in PA (she lived in NJ so could have been there too). My father said she told him it was from the 1800s. It is the kind of bed that used rope through holes in the rails to support the mattress and was shorter than standard mattresses today. My grandfather extended the rails (see pictures) in order to fit a standard full mattress. He had a custom box spring made to fit between the rails flush with the top of the rails. So the good news is that it uses a standard mattress, the bad news is that the rails were cut so not in their original condition. It is a good looking bed with a bed skirt covering the side rails, and could look even better with some TLC. It comes with the custom box spring but not a mattress. I am not sure what it is worth, similar beds that seem to be newer (more modern rails) online can be in the $Ks. Open to best offers.
