Scandinavian Slat Bench (Hand Made)

Handmade from strong cedar. Located in St Johns area of Portland. Will deliver for a small fee. Dimensions: 62" wide. 15" deep 17" tall I didn’t build this bench to sell it. I built it because my mind was loud, and I needed silence. It started on a quiet Sunday, the kind where the air feels thick and still, and you know the only cure is to make something with your hands. No plans. No measurements. Just me, a saw, the feel of the grain under my fingers, and the steady rhythm of cutting. Every board, every joint, I shaped with patience, like I was building something to hold more than weight. I wanted it to hold stillness. To hold moments. When I finished sanding it and stepped back, I realized it was better than I thought I could make. Not perfect. But honest. Solid. In a world that moves too fast and falls apart too easily, maybe that matters. This bench is for someone who needs more than a place to sit. It’s for someone who needs a place to pause. To breathe. To feel the weight of the wood under them and remember who they are.
