In the late 1990's and early 2000's Croton had a line of watches called 'Equator' that pretty much copied the Rolex Day-Date and Datejust models in size, weight and definitely the look of the iconic Rolex models. Word has it that these models were constructed in Italy to the same specifications as the Rolex models; they even used interchangeable sapphire crystals, casetubes and screwdown crowns - just like the Rolex Oysters. These Crotons were so close to the Rolex models that, according to watch lore, Rolex sued Croton for copyright infringement and Croton ceased making the Equator line of watches in the early 2000's. 18k bezel, trim and links.
