Description

Wood Dancing Devi Aspara Statue 18" Hand Carved Mango Tree Wood from Tamil Nadu, India Total Height Including Base: 18 inches or 61 cms Dimensions: 18' Tall x 9.25" Wide x 5" Deep Weight: 9 pounds or 4 kgs • Devi is the Mother Goddess and the female aspect of the divine • She has beautiful, tranquil facial features with her hair in a bun off to the side while holding a flower A beautiful nymph looks into a handheld mirror. Pleased by what she sees, she has a distinct expression of joy. The apsara is, of course, full-figured as is the norm with the goddess nymphs. On the plinth she stands in a way that accentuates the finesse of her form and plenitude of her proportions. She is wearing very little - a minimalistic bustier around her breasts as they protrude firmly from her chest.vvdvvv The plinth she stands on is made in keeping with those found in traditional Indian visual arts. It is angular and narrow. The front is engraved with uniform strokes of hammer-and-chisel on wood, and at its midline is a simplistic four-petalled form
