Vintage Eames DCW Dining Chair Wood By Herman Miller / Evans

This is a DCW, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1948. It is an early example featuring the 5-2-5 screw pattern, dating it to the late 1940s or early1950s. The piece is composed of birch, and its age has only contributed to its beauty. The birch has taken on a warm tone, highlighting the handsome grain of the wood. We have intentionally left this piece in its patinated condition. The wood shows discoloration at the feet and there are several scratches throughout. This is an OLD piece and has been used regularly for decades. There are numerous scratches, rough edges, at least one small chip to the edge, discoloration, and wear as you would expect including some indentation marks to the underside of the chair as well. The 4 rubber bushings on the bottom part of the chair have been replaced, but the single rubber bushing on the backrest is original. The 4 bolts for the bushings are also new, but I have the originals that I will include in the sale. It’s missing the 5th middle bolt underneath, but that bolt actually so unnecessary that when Herman Miller officially took over production from Evans, they did away with that bolt altogether.
