It all began with two amazing bookmatched figured maple slabs. Upon first glance, I knew I had to have them. What captivated me, was that when inverted, the most beautiful hourglass design takes shape, and shimmering angel wings emerge in a bend. After some careful consideration, I decided to gather up all of my most treasured, handpicked Lake Michigan stones to run through them, breathing in new life. If you look closely, you will see an extraordinary collection of fossils, crystals, slag, and Petoskey stones, carefully and intentionally pieced together, laid upon a bed of sand. I gave it a timeless, neutral color scheme, so that the array of stones would accentuate, and add value to the natural beauty of the quilted maple. I finished it with multiple coats of a high-quality, food safe, hard wax finish, leaving it extraordinarily durable and protected, while looking and feeling natural and smooth. I chose steel legs from Flowyline Design that lean into the curves of the wood. It’s final measurements are 103.5” long x 42” wide x 29” tall. Creating this stunning, one of a kind piece was such a beautifully calculated process. I love and value all of its parts as much as the whole, and it was an honor to be the creator behind it. I am SO excited and grateful to share it with the right family, as a conversation piece of functional art for generations to come. This table is available for immediate purchase.
