Description
This ''VIRGa 1737'' fireback is an authentic Colonial Williamsburg reproduction fabricated by Virginia Metalcrafters and copied from antique fragments found at the site of the Red Lion Inn in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The fireback is in very good used condition, structurally sound, sturdy and heavy, weighing over 60 pounds. It measures 24'' high and 20 3/4'' wide. Functionally it was designed to absorb, hold and reflect heat from the fire into the room, and it does exactly that. In addition it is quite beautiful as a backdrop for the flames as they highlight the three dimensional casting VIRGa 1737. On the back, as the photos reveal , there are casting marks authenticating the piece. This has been used, as it is likely over 50 years old, so it has scorch marks on it. The piece is SOLID and is structurally and functionality in excellent shape. Dimensions - 24” H x 20.5” W
