Reign: Emperor Leo IV ("the Khazar") alongside his young son, Constantine VI. - Date Range: Circa 775–780 AD. - Mint: Struck at the main imperial mint in Constantinople. - Obverse: Displays the facing portraits of the two co-emperors wearing traditional crowns topped with crosses. Partial Greek lettering ("LEON") is visible along the left rim. - Reverse: An exceptionally crisp and well-preserved design. Features the large denominational letter "M" (signifying 40 nummi) flanked by the distinct "XXX" and "NNN" markings. Topped with a clear cross (+) and anchored by a sharp workshop "A" (1st Officina) mark at the base. This coin boasts an excellent natural dark brown patina with highlighted details and very minimal pitting for a bronze piece of this era.
