Hand crafted, one by one. You receive the exact piece shown.sculptures images that are created from wire, paper, fabric, paste, and patience. Each one has it's own identity and place in the world. These whimsical, colorful, and flighty figures can hang anywhere and lighten your load as they move about with intent, freedom and spirit. In the evening they cast shadows and continue their dance. Sarena Mann has worked in paper mache and other sculptural media for over 35 years. After extensive studies in sculpture with independent artists and at University, she undertook an exploration of the arts and cultures of Asia. Her travels abroad provided the inspiration for the flying ladies, a line of small figurative sculptures which has since expanded into a stunning array of colorful, whimsical figures and mobiles showing at fine contemporary craft galleries throughout the United States and Canada. The fun- and spirit-filled flying ladies have been the mainstay of Sarena's work for 35 years. She loves the whimsical, colorful, flighty figures that hang anywhere and lighten the load. They move about with intent, freedom and spirit. In the evening they cast shadows and continue their dance. Over the years they have changed; some have retired and some have returned for new adventure. Made from wire, paper, fabric, paste and patience, they each have their own identity and place in the world. These "girls" still make Sarena smile, and challenge her to keep them fresh and reflect the changes we all share.
