Description

Built in the second year of production, this 1964 Guild Polara S-100 is a real stunner. These were part of Guild’s first electric guitar production, and built by former Epiphone employees that left due to internal conflicts in Epiphone at the time. Incredibly high craftsmanship and quality. The mahogany contoured body is super cool and comfortable to play. The aesthetic of the guitar is so unique and is a real stunner. Original cherry burst finished, and the nitrocellulose lacquer has check beautifully, allowing the instrument to really resonate in a musical way. You can tell this guitar was well loved and played, the finish has worna lot on the top half of the back of the neck giving it a more satin feel and easier playability. The frets are original, but have been dressed and polished and still have decent life left. The rosewood fretboard has some worn spots, but doesn’t not affect playability and feels fantastic. The pickups are the original “Frequency-Tested” single coils designed by Todd Electric, and have a p-90esque sound. My personal favorite of Guild’s single coils. The condition of the guitar is great, all original with no breaks. The headstock face plate started to separate at some point before I’ve owned it and was recglued. The “patent pending” kickstand functions, such an odd and unique feature to this guitar. And luckily this is one of the few that survived the dreaded headstock breaks from using the stand. The asymmetrical headstock is super cool. All mahogany body and neck. Comes with super vibey original blue vinyl case with blue plush interior. Case functions well, but the outside has definitely seen the road.
