1999 Johnson 8hp 2-Stroke Long Shaft Outboard (J8RLEEM)

Strong-running Johnson 8hp 2-stroke long shaft outboard. Rope start, tiller steer. Currently mounted on my small tender and available to test in the water at the marina for serious buyers. The motor starts, runs, shifts, and pushes the dinghy well under load. There is a very slight intermittent rhythmic surge under throttle shown in the video on my Facebook Marketplace listing, but unless the throttle is being maxed out like I did in the video, it is hardly noticeable. Even then, it has no real effect on the strength or usability of the motor. It appears to be related to common clutch dog/forward gear wear on these motors, though it has never prevented me from using it normally. It is good as it sits now, but could likely be made even smoother with future adjustment or repair if desired. Normal cosmetic wear for age. Good small outboard for a dinghy, tender, small boat, or sailboat auxiliary. Serious buyers can meet me at the marina and we can take the tender out so you can see the motor run in the water.
