Drove from Moses Lake to look at a 2020 Honda Civic Si with 52,000 miles on it. There was another car in Yakima that I wanted to look at, and I told the salesman, Ty, that I would drive both cars before making a decision. He was trying to convince me over the phone that I should look at their car first, and being somewhat pushy about it. The other car sold before I got to see it.

After driving 1.5 hours to the dealership, I arrive to find the car has been modified. Intake, exhaust, and lowering springs. Pictures on the web site clearly showed intake and exhaust, so thats my bad for missing them. I don't think the lowering of the car was very easy to see in pictures, but immediately caught my attention in person. I looked under the car to see if it was lowered on springs or coilovers. Because these cars come with adaptive dampers, factory replacements are expensive. I clearly saw factory dampers, and bright red springs. I asked Ty if he knew whether it was spring or coilovers, and he said he would have to ask their mechanic. He later told me they were coilovers, but of course, I already knew that was incorrect. I went ahead with the test drive, hoping it was just a mistake and it would all work out. They sent my wife and I on the test drive by ourselves while they valued my trade in vehicle. We were told to take it wherever we wanted and come back whenever.

Driving the car, it was quickly apparent that the clutch was completely shot. Before getting to the highway, just giving the car quarter throttle in 2nd gear, I could feel the revvs climb, then fall, then the car would accelerate. This was even more obvious as we got onto the highway, and were able to test it at highway speeds. Upon deciding that the clutch was definitely worn out and I was not going to buy the car, I quickly turned around and went back to the dealership. At this point in my experience, with the age of the car, and the modifications I can see, I am fairly certain the car had been tuned and driven hard by the previous owner, and probably not maintained very well. Any responsible level of tuning should not wear out the clutch in 50k miles. I've put similar milage personally on 3 different vehicles, and this is the first time I have ever experienced clutch slippage.

I communicated clearly and respectfully that I didnt think Ty could have known about the clutch just moving the car around the lot, and I didnt blame him for trying to screw anyone necessarily. However, it is not possible for such an obvious and expensive issue to not be known to the maintenance staff. Somebody discovered the issue and either didnt report it to management, or management decided to try to sell the car without fixing it. Someone else came to speak with me while we waited for our truck to come back from their test drive, it was a manager of some sort, but I cannot remember his name. I told them things like this put me off of their dealership entirely, and I would not be buying this car, even if they offered to fix it. It proves to me, even if the individual I am directly working with may not be lying to me, the company operates from a place of dishonesty, and to me that is unacceptable.

After arriving home, I noticed they had dropped the purchase price by about $1200, but there is still no mention of existing issues in the description. Ty is at best, ill-informed, at worst, deceptive. The company gives me shady vibes and I would recommend everyone search for cars elsewhere.

We were interested in a car, however-the car BADLY needed new brakes and rotors. During the test drive, every time you pressed on the brake pedal, the car would vibrate. The vibration was only apparent when braking normally. To cover up the situation and minimize the issue, the salesman would brake aggressively (so the issue wasn’t as apparent). We told him we’d be Interested in buying the car if they’d replace the brakes and rotors. They agreed, and then every time we checked in with them-they’d say things like “we ordered the parts!” ….and then finally just stopped replying. After taking a closer look at some of the other cars on the lot, almost every single one of them had pads about a 1/4 of an inch thick or less. The fact that they buy these cars at auction, spend $0 bringing them up to a safe level of driving standards, and try to sell them as soon as possible speaks volumes. Typical used car dealership. Who wants to buy a car, and then 2-3 months later has to replace tires, brake pads, rotors, etc. AS A MINIMUM, THE CAR SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE OFF THE LOT. SHAMEFUL. You don’t need to “order parts”. You can go to any auto parts store and buy brake pads and rotors for a car and install them in a day. Instead, they hoped someone who didn’t know any better would just buy the car and they could save a little money. PATHETIC.

Called about a price on a car trying to make an offer. I believe Tyler was the one helping me and he told me he was going to give me a call back in a few hours. Never gave me a call back. I had to call them. When the person answered the phone, they were quite rude and snobby. He literally hung up the phone mid conversation. They also claimed they “don’t negotiate over the phone.” Any dealership who says this is lying and should not be trusted! Really confusing how they don’t even want to try to negotiate on a truck that has been sitting on their lot for a year now!! Claimed my offer was way below its means even though they haven’t been able to sell it to anyone. They have lost almost 10k so far for it just sitting there. Embarrassing at this point just auction it. 😭

Eric Nunez is really great guy with a good attitude. Will help you out the best way possible and get you into that car your really want. Highly recommend reaching for a car with him.
