Best offer for price! Roy Campanella's catcher's mitt was a heavily padded, dark brown leather glove with no individual fingers and was worn on his left hand. It was a custom Wilson model used during his prime with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and its original condition included spiral lacing and an adjustable strap, though some examples had alterations, such as missing webbing. Roy "Campy" Campanella was a legendary baseball catcher, a pioneer for African American athletes, a three-time MVP, and a 1969 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee. His career was tragically cut short by a 1958 car accident that left him paralyzed. Baseball career: He was a star catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, known for his powerful arm and skill at calling games. He hit 242 home runs in his career despite the physical toll of catching. He was named the National League's Most Valuable Player three times (1951, 1953, and 1955). He helped the Dodgers win their first World Series championship in 1955. His playing career ended after a car accident following the 1957 season, before the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles. His number 39 was retired by the Dodgers.
