Shopsmith 10 ER Collectible
Description
Designed to perform multiple functions, this iconic Shopsmith 10ER is from one of the earliest production runs ever made (late 1947, early 1948) by Magna Engineering Corporation in San Francisco California. Perfect for a Shopsmith historian, vintage tool exhibitor, or high-value collector, this first Shopsmith is prized for its rugged build and precision. Fully functional and in near mint condition, this is truly a masterful piece of American tool making history. Meticulously, the table rests on two heavy-walled steal tubes that pass through wholes in the carriage. These tubes are wracked to mesh with two gears activated by the table-raising level. The table itself is adjusted up or down to change blade projection using a convenient butterfly-type handle. Key characteristics of this remarkable model include, distinctive cast iron headstock with original, red Shopsmith logo, exposed motor and belt drive, solid twin way-tubes with fence system (indicative of early models). This masterful saw is a complete power workshop, including 9” saw, 12” disc sander, 16.5” drill press, 16.5” x 34” lathe horizontal drill. Complete with all metal floor stand, 3/4s h.p. motor, combination saw blade and arbor, miter gauge, rip fence, extension table, Jacobs geared chuck, sanding disc and sandpaper, lathe tool rest, tailstock, drive and cup centers. Saw comes with original 324 page catalog entitled, Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone, stating, “Most books are for readers; this one is designed for users.”
