Barocco Red Orchid (Oncidium hybrid)

Description

It is highly prized for its brilliant, deep crimson-red blooms, contrasting lips, and compact bouquet-like growth habit. Because of its multi-generic background, this orchid is highly adaptable to indoor environments but thrives best when its specific environmental needs are met: Light: Requires bright, indirect light. An east or west-facing window is ideal. Direct, harsh sunlight will easily burn the leaves, while too little light will prevent blooming. Water & Humidity: Prefers even moisture; the potting mix should be allowed to dry out about halfway between waterings. Do not allow the plant to sit in stagnant water, as it is prone to root rot. High humidity is highly beneficial. Temperature: This is an "intermediate" grower that tolerates normal household temperatures. A distinct drop in temperature between night and day can help trigger bud formation. Potting Media: Use a well-draining orchid bark mix or fine fir bark, often combined with a bit of sphagnum moss to retain moisture.
