It was sold as a certified refurbished model. I have upgraded it with a brand new SSD, replaced the DVD drive with a second HD (500 GB) and upgraded the RAM to 8 GB (still upgradeable to 16 GB). Cosmetically it is in very good condition. There is one ding on top and one towards the back. The bottom has a few marks. All things I would classify as normal wear and could easily be covered with a case or skin. I did notice that on the screen there are two very faint white marks that are barely noticeable only when the screen is showing a light color. When the colors are dark you can’t even see them.
