Description

Used, Excellent Minolta XG-M 35mm SLR Film Camera w/MD 50mm 1:1.7 new battery installed, Item introduction Vintage from the 1980s Looking for a great way into a 35mm film camera? This could be your ticket. The Minolta XG-M is a 35mm single-lens reflex camera introduced in 1981 by Minolta of Japan. When released, it was the top model in Minolta's XG series of consumer-grade manual focus SLRs, replacing the XG-9. This was also the first camera to use Minolta's new logo, which was used until the 2003 merger into Konica Minolta. The body style became Minolta's standard manual-focus SLR body, so the XG-M strongly resembles subsequent Minolta cameras. The camera will take either Minolta's 3.5 fps motor drive or an auto winder. The XG-M supports both aperture-priority auto-exposure and full manual mode. The shutter speed dial is set to the A (auto) position for aperture priority shooting. The photographer sets the aperture on the lens, which is visible in the viewfinder utilizing a small periscope beneath the image. The camera decides on the correct shutter speed according to its center-weighted average metering reading. This is displayed in the viewfinder: a column on the right of the image shows all the shutter speeds, and an LED lights up next to the chosen speed. The automatically selected exposure can be adjusted employing the exposure compensation dial on the left; compensation of plus or minus 2 stops can be set in half-stop increments. The XG-M uses that LED to display its recommended shutter speed in manual mode. However, to select a shutter speed, One must remove the camera from the eye; the speed setting is not shown in the viewfinder. Speeds between 1 and 1/1000 seconds can be chosen, and there is a BULB setting for long-duration exposures. The camera is battery dependent and requires 2 LR44 or equivalent button cells to operate. This individual camera is in excellent cosmetic condition showing minor signs of wear. All functions operate correctly and smoothly. The lens is pretty with bright clear glass with no marks, haze, fungus, or anything else to diminish the image quality. This camera is a fine choice for a student or anyone who wants a solid, reliable film camera at a very reasonable price. DIMENSIONS: 5.5” x 3.5” x 3.5” (approx.)
